However, this is not a diet, rather it is a life style change. I cannot stress this enough. After struggling with my weight for years, I decided to take a long hard look at my diet. When I say the word "diet" I am referring to what a person eats or drinks during the course of a day. The first thing I eliminated was breakfast cereals, as they can contain hidden sugars and salt. I replaced my breakfast cereal with a fruit smoothie, and after 3 weeks, the first thing I noticed was my weight loss and my shrinking waist line. This one small change gave me the kick start that I needed.
After approximately 4 weeks, I was getting comments on my weight loss and this was only the start, and even before I started to exercise. The fruit smoothie which I make, are packed full of fresh fruit, and other important ingredients nuts and mixed seeds (brazil, walnuts). Nuts are so good for you and they provide satisfaction to the smoothie. They help keep the hunger pangs at bay. If you dread the thought of having to wash all that fruit, don’t worry as you can buy frozen berries and frozen strawberries in most supermarkets. It only takes about 10 minutes to prepare and make a smoothie. I have met so many people, who asked me how I lost all the weight, and when I tell them that I started by cutting out white bread and cereals for breakfast and replaced them with a fruit smoothie, the reply is, I would not have the time in the morning to do that. This is just an excuse - make time. You will be glad you did. Think of all the health benefits of eating all that fruit. Get up fifteen minutes earlier in the morning.
Another benefit of the WeightShifters plan, is that you will have a lot more energy. When I arrived in from work in the evening and had my dinner, I was overcome with tiredness, I was always falling asleep in front of the television, and this was simply down to the food which I was consuming. I also suffered from a skin condition, which I now believe was caused by eating the wrong foods. My skin condition is now a thing of the past.
Juicing is another important part of the WeightShifters weight loss plan. I am at present studying Naturopathic Nutrition at CNM college in Queen’s University Belfast, and I am learning the importance of good nutrition and its affects on the human body.
